Fenerbahçe SK has announced the signing of versatile Super Falcons midfielder Regina Otu on a two-year deal, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The Turkish side confirmed this on their official website with the picture of the 28-year-old Falcons star putting pen to paper.
“Fenerbahçe Petrol Ofisi Women’s Football Team has added Regina Ibiang Otu, who played for AS Saint-Etienne in the French league last season, to its squad,” the club wrote.
“The 28-year-old midfielder, who also plays for the Nigerian Women’s National Team, signed a contract that will bind her to the yellow and navy colours for 2 years.
“We say ‘Welcome to our Club’ to our player; we wish her many successes with our striped jersey.”
Otu joins the Black and Yellow striped team on a free deal after her contract with French side AS Saint Ettienne expired last season.
The midfielder was an integral part of the French club last season, starting all the club’s 20 league games, scoring just one goal.
She left the club alongside Nigeria teammates Yewande Balogun and Amanda Mbadi (who now plays for RCD Espanyol Femení) following the expiration of their contracts.
Otu was part of the four alternate players selected by Coach Randy Waldrum for the Paris 2024 Olympics, where the Super Falcons lost all three group matches, scoring one goal and conceding five to exit the Women’s Football Tournament.
