The former Manchester United star has been the subject of media scrutiny following reports of his failure to pay alimony and accusations of abandoning his family.
According to Le Parisien, the 43-year-old received a suspended 12-month prison sentence after being found guilty of neglecting his family for two years.
The report also claims that Evra owes over £800,000 in alimony to his former partner, Sandra Evra, and their two children.
However, in a recent statement, the retired footballer has shared his perspective on the situation amidst the growing reports.
Evra speaks on alimony/prison rumours
In a video shared on his official Instagram account, Patrice Evra clarified that the allegations against him are far from the truth.
The 43-year-old emphasised that these accusations originate from his former partner, with whom he has since parted ways.
The former France international claimed that his ex-partner has been attempting to retaliate against him.
Evra further stated that he currently supports up to 400 children and adequately provides for his ex-wife and their children, including the shelter they live in, which he provides.
The former left-back concluded by expressing his need to address the issue amidst reports of a prison sentence. He emphasised that he would never want to subject his children to the unpleasant situation he experienced as a child.
