PDP Congress: We’ll not tolerate impunity from stakeholders – Abia party chieftain, Apollos

Ahead of State and National Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Enyinnaya Apollos, a chieftain of the party and former Chief Press Secretary to ex-governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, has hinted that the opposition party would produce youthful leadership that would make the needed changes.

The PDP after its State caucus meeting on June 1, in Umuahia, zoned the chairmanship position to Abia North in preparation for the congress.

However, Apollos who spoke to newsmen in Umuahia, the Abia state capital, maintained that no party in Abia is embedded in the grassroots like the PDP.

“We value the experience of our elders but we can’t take any nonsense from stakeholders,” he said.

He said that PDP lost the 2023 Governorship election in Abia State to bad elements, adding that they were not perturbed by the exit of some persons from the party.

“Nobody is perturbed by the exit of anybody from the party. It was PDP members who worked against the interest of the party for their selfish gain.

“They felt those they worked for would accommodate them but their hopes were dashed. When you are contracted to destroy your brother, the person who contracted you will not hire you for the job.

“So, out of envy, they worked against their own party and when they were disappointed, they shamelessly left the PDP.

“They have not been welcomed in the new places they moved to. It is a good omen that they left the party.

“We are aware of people who are pretending to be in the party waiting to hijack positions and hold it on trust for some persons,” Apollos claimed.
