The Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, on Sunday paid an unscheduled visit to Higher Superintendent Osho Oluwasola, a courageous firefighter injured while responding to a fire outbreak at a filling station in Ado Ekiti last week.
Oyebanji visited Osho at his residence in the Dalimore area of Ado Ekiti to express gratitude on behalf of the government and people of the state for the firefighter’s heroic efforts in preventing what could have been a catastrophic fire disaster.
A Sunday statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode revealed this.
The visit also served to check on Osho’s recovery following his hospitalisation.
Osho and his wife were visibly moved by the Governor’s presence, describing the visit as an emotional and morale-boosting experience.
During the 20-minute visit, Oyebanji commended Osho and his team for their swift response, emphasising the critical role of the state fire service in ensuring public safety.
“The selfless act of Mr. Osho and his team saved countless lives, investments, and properties. Their gallantry reflects the dedication of our public servants to their duties.
“I am happy to see that Mr. Osho is recuperating well, and I am here to thank him for making us proud,”the governor said while addressing journalists.
Oyebanji also highlighted the significant improvements made to the Ekiti State Fire Service under his administration. He attributed the agency’s effectiveness to strategic investments in firefighting equipment, comprehensive training programs for personnel, and the deployment of fire trucks across the state’s senatorial districts.
“This government remains committed to the safety and security of lives, properties, and investments in Ekiti State.
“Our investments in emergency response systems are part of a broader strategy to create a safe and thriving environment for all,” the governor stated.
Residents of the Dalimore neighbourhood, who gathered in large numbers upon sighting the Governor, expressed their admiration for his hands-on leadership and dedication to public safety.
In his response, Osho expressed profound gratitude to the governor for the visit and the unwavering support provided to the fire service.
“This visit has boosted my morale and strengthened my resolve to continue protecting lives and properties in Ekiti State,” he said.
