The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Audu Dabigi, has directed the Homicide section of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the State Command, to thoroughly probe the circumstances surrounding the death of Felix Blaise, a 15-year-old student of Air Force Comprehensive School, Kaduna.

LEADERSHIP earlier reported that the student was said to have been allegedly tortured to death by two Senior Secondary students of SS3 of the school in the dormitory within the Air Force Base in Mando area, Kaduna.

The incident occurred on June 19, 2024, when the two SS3 students invited the deceased student to their room for punishment but ended up allegedly killing him.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) authorities, through its spokesman, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, had promised a thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances that led to the death of the student.

“To avoid all sorts of speculations, a thorough investigation is currently ongoing to unravel how, why and what actually led to the death of the victim,” Gabkwet had said.

The family of Felix, who was the Assistant Head Boy of the school, had also demanded for justice.

On Thursday, the Kaduna State Police Command said it has taken over the matter, directing the Command’s SCID to conduct an investigation into the suspected murder of the 15-year-old Felix.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mansir Hassan, disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Kaduna.

He said the Nigerian Air Force has formally handed over the case to the Polixe Command after conducting a preliminary investigation into the matter.

The police spokesman quoted the Commissioner of Police as saying that the command would handle the case professionally.

He urged the public to remain calm and allow the investigation process to proceed without interference.

“We have received the case file. The suspects have been transfered to us and they are in our custody. A crack team has been set up to follow up the case. We will do a diligent and professional work to get to the root of the matter,” the police spokesman assured.

In his reaction, a family member and an uncle to the late Felix, Mr. Paul Wazimtu, expressed delight over the assurance given by the Police Command on the matter.
