Former Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Seriake Dickson has urged youths in the Niger Delta region to shun violence ahead of the planned nationwide protest.

Dickson said they can express their grievances without violence and destruction of property.

“A peaceful demonstration is possible. Violence and destruction of property is not necessary. Your voices will be heard without resort to violence,” Dickson said.

Dickson, who represents Bayelsa West in the Senate, also asked governors and other leaders to engage youths across the country to assuage their anger and frustrations, which he said were genuine.

“Governors and leaders across the country should engage the youth, listen to their anger and frustrations, and assuage them.

“We should listen to them, it is important that we do, so that when the issues are addressed, it would be with their inputs,” he added.
