The Joint Union Congress of the Police Service Commission (PSC) has called on President Bola Tinubu to fire the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun over his alleged interference in the recent recruitment of police constables.

The Union made the call during a press briefing on Wednesday in Abuja, adding that some top officers within the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) tried to smuggle in names during the recruitment process.

The union further alleged that the police intended to prevent the president from noticing the lack of readiness of the police training schools to properly train the recruits due to the poor conditions of the facilities.

The angry members of the union sang protest songs, describing the reactions of the police hierarchy as diversionary tactics.

This comes after the PSC recently released 10,000 names of successful candidates employed from the recruitment exercise by the commission.

The police however rejected the list in the accusation that the recruitment process was deceptive.
