- Real Madrid's signing of Kylian Mbappe has been met with questions about where he will fit in the club's attack
- The French forward is speculated to be most comfortable playing on the left wing, which is currently occupied by Vinicius Junior
- Los Blancos coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has outlined how he plans to integrate both players into the club's attack ahead of the new season
While Real Madrid's signing of Kylian Mbappe has been met with cheers and excitement from fans and stakeholders, it has also sparked scepticism regarding his potential role at the club.
The former Paris Saint-Germain forward has shown versatility in various attacking positions, but he has consistently excelled when playing on the left wing—an area currently occupied by Vinicius Junior.
However, amid discussions of a potential positional clash between the two players, coach Carlo Ancelotti has outlined his plans to deploy both effectively, aiming to maximise their impact on the team's performance next season.
Ancelotti explains plans for Mbappe and Vinicius
In an interview with former Nigeria midfielder, John Mikel Obi, on the Obi One Podcast, the Italian tactician emphasised his strategy to leverage the mobility of both Mbappe and Vinicius Jr, especially considering the versatility of both players.

"Where do I see Mbappé playing? I envision him in the forward position. The attack covers a wide area, and with the pitch being 68 meters wide, our attackers need to utilise that space effectively," Ancelotti explained. He added, "Vinícius didn’t play as a traditional left winger last season. The key to a successful attack is player mobility. Sometimes, he’ll play on the left, other times in the middle."Ancelotti drew parallels with Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo Goes, stating,
"Bellingham played on the left, in the middle, and on the right. Rodrygo often started on the right but sometimes moved to the left during matches. The quality and mobility of the players will determine their positions."These comments from the Real Madrid manager seem aimed at addressing concerns about a potential positional conflict between Mbappé and Vinícius.
Both players are expected to make their first appearance for Real Madrid on August 14, when Los Blancos face Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup final in Poland, according to data from Fotmob.
Mbappe opens up on Real Madrid role
Legit.ng earlier reported that Mbappe is willing to play any position in Real Madrid's attack as directed by manager Carlo Ancelotti next season.
The 25-year-old officially joined Los Blancos on July 1 after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired, concluding seven successful years at the Parc des Princes, the first on loan from Monaco.
During his first press conference following his unveiling as a Real Madrid player, Mbappe addressed these speculations, asserting his readiness to play wherever needed by Ancelotti.
