At just 17 years and two days old, Spanish forward, Lamine Yamal has created records his senior colleagues in the game can only dream of.

Despite how great the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are, they can’t boost the array of records Lamine Yamal already have in the game, especially after the Euro 2024.

Before the tournament, Yamal who celebrated his 17th birthday on July 13th, had records like youngest player ever to feature in El Clasico, the youngest player to score in a La Liga match, the youngest player to assist in Barcelona’s shirt, and the youngest player in Barcelona’s history to reach 50 official games, and a host of others.

The fact that Spain’s Coach, Luis de la Fuente played him in Euro 2024, made Yamal the youngest player ever to feature in a European Championship match.

Yamal’s goal against France in the semi-finals of the tournament on July 9, made him the youngest player ever to score in an international competition, a record late Brazilian icon, Pele held for 66 years. That also made the Spanish youngster the youngest player ever to score in the history of the European Championship.

Aside from that, Yamal is the youngest player ever to provide an assist in a European Championship match. He reached the peak of his records-ridden campaign by becoming the youngest player ever to win the European Championship after helping Spain to beat England 2-1 on Sunday, July 14.

In the final, Lamine Yamal forced England’s goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, to make two fine saves. The winger also provided an assist for Nico Williams’ opener.

The assist means Yamal ended the Euro 2024 campaign as the player with the most goals involvement with one goal and four assists. This makes him the first player since records started in 1980 to provide four assists in a single European Championship.

At just 17 years and two days old, Spanish forward, Lamine Yamal has created records his senior colleagues in the game can only dream of.

Yamal is now the first player in the history of the competition to be directly involved in goals in the quarter-final, semi-final and final.

Thanks to his record-breaking performance at the European Championship, the 17-year-old FC Barcelona winger was named the best young player of the tournament.
