Mr Gogo Philip, the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Oyigbo Local Government Area, Rivers, on Monday, donated vehicles to security operatives in the area to enhance operations.

The chairman also donated vehicles to some individuals from the area as the council’s contribution towards their welfare.

Speaking at the event, Gogo said that the donations were his administration’s contribution to improve the security and welfare of the people.

“As an interim administrator, this donation is to enhance security operations around the ten wards in the local government area.

“We clearly understand our responsibility to the people, soon we shall kickstart the payment of bursary to tertiary institution students from this area

“This step will help to support their well-being in school, this is in line with Gov. Siminalaye Fubara’s policy of putting the people first,” he said.

Speaking at the event, Mr Chisom Gbali, the Commissioner for Youth Development, described the donation as a step in the right direction.

Gbali said that the chairman’s gesture had enabled the people at the grassroots to feel the impact of governance.

The commissioner urged Oyigbo people to support the programmes and policies of the current administration in the state.
