Following Tuesday assents to bills seeking the creation of two geopolitical development commissions, a socio-political group, Southeast Mandate Group, has lauded Senator Stella Oduah for initiating and championing the recently signed Southeast Development Commission Bill.
The group in a press statement signed by its National Chairman Comrade Jude Udemba yesterday in Abuja equally expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for granting his assent to the bill stating that the gesture attests to his unwavering commitment to the growth and prosperity of the South-East region.
Tinubu had on Tuesday signed into law bills creating two new regional development commissions, the North West Development Commission (NWDC) and the South East Development Commission (SEDC) which were passed by both chambers of the National Assembly in June and transmitted to the president for assent.
Jude recalled how the Bill was first introduced in the 8th Senate by Oduah who was the then Senate Chairman, Committee on Cooperation and Integration.
While commending President Tinubu noted that the establishment of the commission will herald true healing of the post civil war wounds and serve as a catalyst for the development of the commercial potential of the region.

“Your bold decision to sign this bill into law demonstrates your willingness to challenge the status quo and take decisive action to address the long-standing developmental challenges facing our region.
Jude also lauded the synergy between President Tinubu ,Senator Stella Oduah and other Lawmakers which he said played an major role to the realisation of the Bill’s assent into law.
Jude lauded Stella Oduah’s dedication; “We also celebrate the tenacious and bold leadership of Senator Stella Oduah, who championed this bill with unrelenting passion and dedication.
“Her love for our people and her determination to see this bill become a reality are a shining example of selfless leadership. Her persistence in the face of adversity is a beacon of hope for our region.

Recall that the newly signed bill was passed by the 8th Senate on the 12th of December 2018 after its introduced by it’s pioneer sponsor Senator Stella Oduah the bill.
The 8th House of Representatives also on the 28th May 2019 passed the same bill sponsored former Deputy Minority Leader Hon.Chukwuma Onyema (Anambra,Ogbaru) but failed to receive assent of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
