The Senate has confirmed Abdullahi Bello as the chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau.

Bello’s confirmation followed a report submitted by the chairman, Senate Committee on Ethics and Public Petitions, Neda Imasuen.

Imasuen said the committee did not receive any petition seeking to disqualify Bello from the position while also extolling his records.

He said, “The committee received no petitions against the nominee and he presented himself very well,” the senator representing Edo South said.

“After thorough screening and questions, the committee is satisfied with the qualifications of the nominee as chair of the Code of Conduct Bureau.”

In March, President Bola Tinubu appointed Bello to the position.

The presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, said in a statement at the time that the president believes that Bello would lead the bureau with “utmost integrity”.

Bello is an assistant forensic accounting and auditing professor at Northumbria University, United Kingdom.
