Simon relishes Kaduna Peace and Unity Award

Super Eagles forward Moses Simon is delighted at being given an award for his efforts in using football to bring peace and unity to Kaduna State, Punch Sports Extra reports.

The 28-year-old Nantes star shared his excitement on social media after receiving the award at the end of the three-day 1 Division Nigerian Army Football for Peace Tournament 2024 in collaboration with Simoiben Football Academy, which took place at the new barracks football pitch in Ribadu Cantonment, Kaduna.

“A big thank you to the GOC 1 Div Major General MLD Saraso for handing me a recognition award for my efforts in using football to bring peace and unity to Kaduna State. I received the award at the end of the Kaduna Peace and Unity Tournament hosted by the GOC. A huge success it was, and credit to all who made it possible,” Simon wrote on his Instagram page on Thursday, underneath a picture of him receiving the prize.

Born in Jos, Plateau United, the former Levante player has a strong affiliation with Kaduna State, where he played his youth football with GBS Academy from 2003 to 2013, when he moved to Ajax Amsterdam.

The tournament, aimed at uniting youths and communities through sports, featured four teams, with Green Beret FC emerging as the champions after beating Simoiben FC 13-12 on penalties in the final.
