The Southern Kaduna Peoples Union has commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the establishment of a federal university in Southern Kaduna, a development that has been long awaited by the community.

According to  SOKAPU’s National Public Relations Officer, Josiah Yusuf Abraks, the approval is a welcome development that will bring much-needed development to the region.

He said the community was ecstatic with many residents expressing their gratitude and appreciation to the President.

“We are looking forward to a brighter future, and we are grateful to President Tinubu for giving us this opportunity.

“This is a very good development. It’s long-awaited. I don’t know how to express this joy on how the Southern Kaduna people will find themselves because this is the first of its kind of federal presence in the area,” Abraks said in an interview with The PUNCH in Kaduna on Monday.

The PUNCH reports that Vice President Kashim Shettima had earlier revealed that the President had given his consent for the establishment of the university, and there are also plans to set up a Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.

The establishment of the federal university is expected to have a significant impact on the region, providing access to quality education and creating opportunities for economic growth and development.

Abraks commended President Tinubu for recognising the Southern Kaduna people’s needs, stating that they appreciated the President’s efforts to bring development to the region.

“We quite appreciate the President for finding it deem fit for us to get a federal university. We are equally looking forward to having more of Federal Government’s presence in the southern part of Kaduna because we have been left far behind in terms of things like this that will bring development to  Southern Kaduna to feel the impact of the administration of President Bola Tinubu,” he said.
