President Bola Tinubu has approved the creation of a Youth Secretariat for the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, made this known in Bwari Area Council during a town hall meeting to dissuade the youths of Bwari and Abuja Munical Area Council (AMAC) from joining the planned nationwide strike against harship in the country.

“I have good news for you, following your complaints, I approached the President, Mr. President has graciously approved the creation of a Youth Secretariat for the FCT,” he said.

He assured the people that he has equally taken their complaint of the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) appointment, which was held by an FCT indigene and was later given to Kogi State.

Wike reiterated that President Tinubu has assured that he would look into the matter and make amends, saying that in order to safeguard the people and provide adequate security, one additional police station has been approved to be built in each of the six Area Councils.

“Security is a critical priority in the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’. One Police Station each has been approved to be built in each of the Area Councils.

“Nobody likes injustice, that is what informed my policy of spreading amenities, when you are happy, allow your neighbour to be happy too, that is what brings peace,” he said.

Wike also used the opportunity to persuade Bwari and AMAC youths not to join the hunger protest, but to embrace dialogue, that an economy that was down for decades cannot be fixed in one year, appealing for more time.

Earlier, youth leaders from Bwari and Abuja Municipal Area Councils, who took turns to talk at the event, said they preferred dialogue and would not join the planned nationwide protest.

Meanwhile, the minister before the meeting inspected a 29km road being constructed in Paikon-Kore in Gwagwalada Area Council.

He enjoined the contractor handling the project to expedite action on completing the road, assuring the people that the road would be completed and commissioned in December this year.
