The Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was ready to provide all necessary resources to put an end to the growing insecurity in Nigeria.

The Minister stated this while instructing the troops of the 17 Brigade Katsina to address the persistent insecurity affecting Katsina State.

The minister issued this directive while speaking to journalists at the border town of Gurbin Baure, located in the Jibia Local Government area of Katsina State, during a Friday visit to the 17 Brigade.

Naija News reports at the defence minister was in the region to assess the situation and receive updates on the ongoing military operations against banditry.

Earlier, Abubakar informed the troops that President Bola Tinubu expressed satisfaction with recent advancements in the fight against banditry.

He noted that the president has acknowledged the progress achieved in the military operations targeting banditry within the state thus far.

“President Tinubu has asked me to thank you and to also encourage you to do more in ending insecurity in these operational areas.

“He is ready to supply everything you need to eliminate insecurity.

“Are you ready to finish them off? Are you ready to end banditry? Soon?” he asked.

The Minister, speaking to newsmen, said, “For the last few months, there has been progress every day, and I believe that all the states are cooperating in ending banditry in the North-West. We need a lot of support from the general public.

“I came by road to assess our deployment there. Zaria-Gusau Road has been very notorious for kidnappers. We have re-strategised and improved our deployment there, and I am impressed with what I see in ending consistent attacks of motorists in the area.

“And from Gusau-Jibia and Katsina is also another road being attacked regularly and I plied it today and we agreed on what to do to stop the attack which the troops are doing.”

The minister was accompanied by the Commander, Joint Task Force North-West Operation Fansar Yamma, Maj Gen Oluyinka Soyele and was received by the Commander 17 Brigade Katsina State, Brig. Gen. B.O Omopariola.

The minister also inspected troops attached to the Air Component, Operation Fansar Yamma at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Airport, Katsina, after which he proceeded to 213 Operating Base, Quick Response Wing 1 of the Nigerian Air Force, Katsina where he charged the troops to end insecurity immediately.
