President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after his brief working visit to France.
The president arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja in the early hours of Friday at approximately 2:25am.
Tinubu had departed for France from the airport on Monday.
The President’s return comes ahead of a significant event scheduled for Friday morning at the State House, where he is expected to swear in Nigeria’s new Chief Justice (CJN).
This follows the statutory retirement on Thursday, August 22, 2024 of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, now retired.
The National Judicial Council (NJC) had on August 15, during its 106th meeting, recommended Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the next CJN.
Tinubu is expected to confirm this recommendation with the official swearing-in ceremony at the Council Chambers.
In a statement released on Thursday, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, confirmed that Justice Ariwoola’s successor would be formally sworn in on August 23, 2024.
