Ahead of the January transfer window, Manchester City midfielder Rodri has expressed his desire for the club to secure 22-year-old Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, who is attracting interest from top teams including Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea.

Williams has been making headlines, particularly for his standout performances at Euro 2024, where he scored in Spain’s thrilling 2-1 victory over England in the final.

At the AS awards ceremony in Madrid, Rodri enthusiastically indicated his willingness to bring Williams to Manchester City during the January transfer window, suggesting that he could help acclimate him to the English climate.

In the Major League Soccer (MLS), FC Cincinnati has announced an extension to the contract of Nigerian midfielder Obinna Nwobodo for an additional year.

This decision reflects the club’s confidence in his abilities and contributions since joining from Turkish club Goztepe in 2022.

Nwobodo has made a significant impact, with 80 appearances and two goals for FC Cincinnati, making him the highest-earning Nigerian player in the MLS.

The club also announced that they have exercised contract options for Miles Robinson and Sergio Santos, as well as Álvaro Barreal, who is currently on loan at Brazilian side Cruzeiro Esporte Clube until December 31, 2024.

Meanwhile, Gift Orban, who plays for Ligue 1’s Olympic Lyon, may be heading for a transfer in January as he seeks more playing time.

Bundesliga clubs Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, and VFB Stuttgart have shown interest in him, along with Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor.

After joining Lyon for around €14 million from KAA Gent in January 2023, Orban has faced challenges in finding his form, having scored only twice in five appearances.

Lyon, facing financial pressures, will likely expedite the sales of players, making Orban a potential candidate for a move during the January transfer window.
