A High Court sitting in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State, has sentenced two men to 10 years imprisonment for illegal possession of firearms.

The court, presided over by Justice O. F. Enenmo, sentenced the two men to jail for 10 years for illegally possessing a cut-to-size single-barrel gun.

The defendants, Mr Joshua Anamali, 25, and Mr Nelson Adoh, 30, respectively, are in custody at the custodial centre, Kwale.

The two defendants were arrested by the police during their normal routine stop and search on January 27, 2021, at Ndemili in the Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State when the exhibit was recovered from them.

The judge who examined the case proffered against the defendants found them guilty and consequently convicted and sentenced them to 10 years for the offence of illegal possession of firearms.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the judgment on Monday, the prosecuting counsel, Mrs Catherine Oboreruomo, applauded the judgment.

Oboreruomo said, “Two witnesses testified in the case against the defendants.

“We are begging young people to shun crimes because the result of crime is condemnation and destruction.”
