Nigeria's Junior D'Tigers against Egypt at the Afrobasket U18 competition in Pretoria, South Africa

Nigeria’s Junior D’Tigress will on Tuesday (today) take on Uganda for their second game of the 2024 FIBA AfroBasket U-18 Championships starting at 11:30 at Rembrandt Hall of University of Pretoria in South Africa.

Nigeria started the championships on a sore note, losing 70-57 to Egypt in their Group B opener on September 4, but clawed their way back in contention in their second game against Angola on Saturday, edging the South Africans 70-65.

The six-time champions had to lift themselves from a 10-point deficit early in the fourth quarter to clinch the win in one of the most exciting games of the day, as the duo Isaac Ezekiel (21 points, six rebounds) and team captain Azeez Sulaimon (20 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and ten steals) put them on victory that took them to second position in the standings behind Egypt with a 100 percent record.

Uganda head into today’s clash looking for their first win after capitulating against Angola 89-73 and Egypt 73-50 in their first two outings in the group, leaving them rock bottom.

The FIBA U18 AfroBasket 2024 tipped off on Sunday, September 1 and will round off on September 14.
