President Bola Tinubu appointed Maigari Dingyadi as the Minister of Labour and Employment on Wednesday.
The President reached the decision after the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Here are things to know about the new Minister of Labour and Employment:
– Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi was born in 1953.
– Dingyadi was born in Dingyadi, Sokoto.
– He is a 1978 graduate of Ahmadu Bello University.
– Dingyadi was appointed as Minister of Police Affairs on August 19, 2019, by President Muhammed Buhari.
In a related development, President Tinubu replaced the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Betta Edu, with Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, on Wednesday.
Naija News reports that the replacement was contained in a statement issued by the presidency on Wednesday, after the FEC meeting, which contained details of the cabinet reshuffle carried out by President Tinubu.
Recall that in January, Tinubu suspended Edu after she ordered the transfer of N585.2 million into the private bank account of a civil servant, who is the accountant in charge of grants for Vulnerable Nigerians.
Tinubu also asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to carry out a thorough investigation of all the ministry’s financial transactions.
The investigation extended to the entire framework of Nigeria’s social investment programmes.
However, Edu has denied any wrongdoing.
At the time of the investigation, Edu’s office said that she had approved the transfer into a personal account for the implementation of grants to vulnerable groups.
The office of the Accountant General of the Federation said such funds were meant to be sent directly from government accounts to the beneficiaries.
