Why Many Women Remain Unmarried in Their 30s – Kanayo O. Kanayo

Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has shared his thoughts on why many women remain unmarried in their 30s, attributing the phenomenon to the choices they made earlier in life.

Speaking during a recent interview with News Central, the actor explained that some women spend their younger years prioritizing relationships with wealthy older men while dismissing potential suitors in their age group.

Kanayo said, “A girl might start university at 18, 19, or 20 and begin dating a rich man, often much older and married. Because this man provides her with material things like cars and houses, she starts feeling superior and ignores younger, prospective husbands.”

He added that this pattern often continues into the woman’s mid-20s, creating a cycle of relationships with rich, unavailable men. By the time she reaches her late 20s and early 30s, Kanayo claimed, the dynamics shift, and such women find it increasingly difficult to attract suitors.

“From 22, she goes on to 24, and before you know it, she’s 25, 26 and still unmarried because she rejected younger men. By 30, she’s left university, and men don’t find her as attractive anymore. At 33, she becomes a prayer point, hoping for anyone to marry her,” Kanayo remarked.

He concluded by stating that many women in this situation eventually realize that they are not having fun but are in what he described as a “state of emergency,” relying on prayers to find a husband.
