Youth involvement in politics essential for accountability — Osun lawmaker

The lawmaker representing Obokun constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewunmi Adeyemi, on Tuesday, stressed the need for the involvement of youths in the political process.

Adeyemi, in a statement he signed to commemorate the 33rd anniversary of the creation of Osun State, noted that the involvement of youths in politics will further enhance accountability.

The lawmaker praised leaders and individuals from the military administration through to the democratic era, whose contributions, he said, have built the state into the “thriving state” it is today.

The statement read: “As Osun State celebrates its 33rd anniversary, we proudly reflect on the remarkable journey that has shaped our state. This milestone is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our people — farmers, educators, civil servants, traders, youths, and women —whose contributions have built Osun into the thriving state it is today.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who have served Osun, from the early military administrators to our current leadership. Governor Ademola Adeleke deserves special recognition for his exceptional work in infrastructure development and other areas, which is laying a strong foundation for our future.

“As we mark this anniversary, I urge our youth to actively engage in politics and governance. Your involvement is essential for driving progress, ensuring accountability, and shaping a government that truly represents our shared aspirations. Embrace the opportunity to make a meaningful impact and advocate for the changes we need.

“Let us unite in celebrating our achievements and continue working towards an even brighter future. Happy 33rd anniversary, Osun State! Our journey is filled with promise, and together, we will build on our successes and strive towards our highest aspirations.”
