Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, on Tuesday, signed the 2025 appropriation bill into law, amounting to N699,573,167,592.

Similarly, Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, signed the N971bn budget into law, pledging that his administration would diligently implement it to foster exponential economic growth and inclusive prosperity for the state.

A statement by the Bayelsa governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, revealed that Diri signed the budget at the Government House in Yenagoa.

He directed all heads of ministries, departments, and agencies to align their actions with the budget’s stipulations.

The state House of Assembly had approved a N10,132,818,675 increase to the initial budget presented by Diri on October 31, raising the total to N699,573,167,592.

Diri expressed optimism that the budget would positively impact the people of the state, focusing on critical sectors.

In Enugu, Mbah signed the budget in a brief ceremony attended by members of the Enugu State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Uchenna Ugwu and Deputy Speaker Ezenta Ezeani.

Mbah thanked the lawmakers for their quick passage of the budget, describing it as a “massive Christmas gift” for the people of Enugu State.

He explained, “What we are witnessing here today is democracy in action. We christened our budget, ‘Budget of Exponential Growth and Inclusive Prosperity’, because it is at the heart of everything we do in the state. If you look at the development model adopted, it is one that takes into account the development challenges we have across our state because as I have always said, we are only as good as our weakest link. So, we have a responsibility to make sure that nobody and no section of the state is left out.”

Meanwhile, in Ondo State, the Assembly passed the 2025 budget of N698,659,496,000, which Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa had presented.

This approved budget marked an increase of N43bn from the original sum of N655.2bn.

The budget allocates N265,037,496,000 for recurrent expenditure and N433,622,000,000 for capital expenditure.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Mr. Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, presented the report on the appropriation bill, which was then passed by the Assembly.

The Speaker, Olamide Oladiji, expressed confidence that the 2025 budget would stimulate economic growth and support the execution of vital projects for the state’s development.
