2 months ago 27

The lingering crisis between Ichen and Ndaka communities in Kurmi local government council of Taraba State appears to have been finally resolved.

This was observed by the DAILY POST as both ethnic groups during the weekend entered into a peace agreement with the intention of putting aside their differences.

The peace accord, which was collectively signed by stakeholders from the various tribes, took place in Baissa, the administrative headquarters of the council.

Our reporter gathered that ylthe peace initiative which occured at the council”s secretariat, was at the instance of Governor Agbu Kefas.

It would be recalled that several lives and wanton destruction of property, was recorded in the council following the upheaval that erupted between the two ethnic groups on December 16, 2021.

The accord, which was signed in the presence of all the security heads in the council, is said to have been designed to halt further uprising between the two tribes and other ethnic groups in the area.

Presided over by the council chairman, Moses Maihankali, the ethnic groups who have been at loggerhead with each other, promised to sheath their swords in order to herald the much desired growth to the council.

They applauded the efforts of the incumbent governor of the state in ensuring that the much desired peace is brought back to the council.

Speakers from both sides who expressed joy at the peace accord, promised to work tirelessly round the clock to expose any person or group of persons within the communities that attempt to frustrate the peace initiative.
