The Kano State House of Assembly has denied allegations that security concerns and the disputes in the Kano Emirates have delayed its resumption.

In a statement released on Wednesday by Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, spokesperson to Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, it described the accusations as “baseless, unfounded, and untrue.”

The statement was in response to recent reports suggesting that the Assembly had postponed plenary sessions for fears of attacks and ongoing dispute within the Kano emirate.

“The purported fear of attacks and delay in resuming the plenary session are nothing but the work of mischievous elements within society,” Shawai asserted.

Shawai said contrary to the report, the Assembly will reconvene on July 15, 2024.

“We urge the good citizens of Kano State to disregard the rumours and fake news, Let us work together for the betterment of our state, irrespective of all differences,” he said.
