Popular On-air personality (OAP), Ifedayo Olarinde, widely known as Daddy Freeze, has sparked controversy by mocking some victims of the latest devastating flooding incident in Lagos State.

Daddy Freeze, who apparently lives on Lagos Island, had claimed that the latest victims of the perennial Lagos flooding in Lagos Mainland area had been mocking the Islanders whenever they were hit by floods, saying the table has now turned against them.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday afternoon, the media personality known for stirring debate about controversial issues, wrote in Pidgin English: “Mainland too is flooded…. Shebi dem dey laugh us for island, now na their turn🤣🤣🤣🤣.”

Netizens flooded the comment section of the post with mixed reactions.

LEADERSHIP reports that the flooding, which began after heavy rainfall from Tuesday night through Wednesday morning, has submerged major roads and communities in Lagos and neighbouring Ogun States. Key roads in Lagos, including Oworonshoki, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Ikeja, Alapere, Iyana-Oworo, Oshodi, Ile-epo, Abattoir, and Victoria Island, were significantly affected, causing severe traffic gridlocks across the nation’s commercial nerve centre.

Communities in Epe, Eredo, Bogije, Labora, Abijon, Sangotedo, Awoyaya, and Ibeju-Lekki also reported extensive flooding.

In neighbouring Ogun State, areas such as Sango, Ota, Alagbado, Atan, Oju-ore, and Lusada were similarly submerged.

Meanwhile, Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, attributed the flooding to intense and prolonged rainfall combined with a high tidal level in the Lagoon. Wahab assured the public that the situation was temporary and expected to subside within one to two hours.

He explained that as the tidal level recedes, rainwater will discharge into the Lagoon, thereby alleviating the flooding.
