The Lagos State government has reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of pensioners, emphasising that retirees would continue to receive the necessary support and care they deserve.
The state Head of Service, Bode Agoro, who gave the assurance during the 2024 Pensioners’ week celebration, said the senior citizens deserved the best care and support.
Agoro stated that “the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration will continue to ensure that they enjoy the fruits of their labour. The welfare of our pensioners is not just a priority; it is a responsibility we hold dear.”
The event which was organised by the Lagos State Pension Commission brought together retirees, government officials, and stakeholders to honour the contributions of the retirees.
Agoro commended the pensioners for their dedication and sacrifices, describing them as the pillars upon which Lagos State was built.
“Our retirees deserve the best care and support, and this administration will continue to ensure that they enjoy the fruits of their labour. The welfare of our pensioners is not just a priority; it is a responsibility we hold dear.

In his remarks, the Director General of LASPEC, Mr. Babalola Obilana commended Sanwo-Olu for his steadfast commitment to pensioners’ welfare, citing the clearing of pension arrears and pension system reforms as key achievements of his administration.
