The commissioner for environment and water resources, Hon. Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle yesterday.

Wahab wrote, “The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) in continued demonstration of its commitment to a sustainable environment, proper sanitation and public health safety in the state has sealed a residential property on Adedosu Street, Otubu, Agege.”

He said the operation was carried out following the receipt of a complaint from concerned citizens.

He added, “The bungalow with over 10 rooms has no toilet facilities but dilapidated pit latrines filled with exposed faecal matter.”

According to the General Manager, Engr. Adefemi Afolabi, who led the compliance team to the property, the Lagos State government cannot afford the occurrence of another cholera outbreak in the State.

The commissioner advised citizens to embrace proper sanitation and hygiene practices to enhance public health and environmental sustainability.

In another post, Hon. Wahab stated, “In response to a complaint made by a concerned Lagosian about the state of security around Obanikoro Bus Stop, operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps conducted a clearance operation around the area, arrested eight miscreants with substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other hard drugs.” He added that the miscreants had been profiled and would be charged to court according to the relevant laws of the state.
