Organisers of the Rotary Sports Festival have officially unveiled the logo for ROSFEST ’25 and announced the date for the event, preparatory to the second edition, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The logo was unveiled on Friday at the Rotary District Office, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.

According to the organisers, the event will commence on February 28 and run through March 7, 2025.

The games lined up for the sports festival include golf, football, chess, swimming, table tennis, athletics, scrabble, flag football, ayo olopon, tennis, volleyball, snooker, draught, and tug-of-war.

Addressing journalists and other dignitaries at the occasion, the chairman of the Rotary District 9112 Sports Activities Committee, PP Alozie Nsirimobi, said, “The vision behind ROSFEST is to encourage healthy living in the Rotary world and beyond through sports and grow the festival from inter-club competition as ROFEST to Nigeria District Sports Festival (NIFEST) to zones (AFRIFEST) and may be RIFEST for Rotary International Sports Festival.”

Speaking with PUNCH Sports Extra, Olufemi Adenekan, District Governor, Rotary International District 9112, said the club hoped to host a better sports festival compared to the first edition.

“We are looking at a bigger success next year; from now till 2025, we do hope we replicate and improve on what we’ve had from the last edition, and we hope that we have more participants and more clubs,” he said.

“We hope that in the future we involve other districts. We have six districts in Nigeria, and it is our goal that we can make it a national event.”

Adenekan also advised Nigerians to see sports as a way of life.

“My advice to people is to ensure that they find a way of engaging and involving other people in activities and sports that provides us with such an avenue to bond because we have seen a lot of situations where people are depressed because of the situation in which we find ourselves and the way to get out of this to bond with other people and fraternise with other people,” he added.

“Also, these sports festivals offer people the opportunity to win a lot of prizes, including land property that could help aid their lives. I invite everyone, both Rotarians and non-Rotarians, to join in this event.”

The event ended with the lighting of the ROSFEST torch.
