The Osun State government has assured holidaymakers who travelled to the state from Lagos using its free train service of a seamless arrangement for their return trip.
The Commissioner for Commerce, Mr. Bunmi Jenyo, gave the assurance on Tuesday while receiving the second batch of passengers who arrived at the Osogbo train station via the ‘Imole Free Train Service,’ an initiative of the state government.
Jenyo expressed satisfaction with the feedback from beneficiaries and confirmed that plans had been finalized for their return to Lagos and other destinations on Thursday.
“We are satisfied with the feedback we have been receiving from the beneficiaries of this gesture.
“Those that arrived with this train are in the second batch. The first set of holidaymakers that Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, brought back to the state through this initiative arrived in Osogbo last Wednesday.
“But the return trip to Lagos is scheduled for Thursday. We have made adequate arrangements to make the return trip a rancor-free one,” Jenyo stated.
The commissioner also noted the enthusiasm displayed by the beneficiaries, reaffirming the Adeleke administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of the people, irrespective of the cost.
One of the beneficiaries, Abigail from Oyan, Osun State, praised the initiative and called for its continuity.
“This initiative is good and it has made a significant impact on the lives of people who have benefitted from it,” she said.
“I could return home without minding the cost of transportation because of an opportunity such as this. Governor Adeleke should continue to fund it.”
A statement by the Information Officer of the Ministry of Commerce, Ademiotan Adegbulugbe, highlighted that the free train service is not limited to Osun-bound holidaymakers. It also benefits travelers heading to other states, especially during festive periods.
