The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubukar III has advised state governors across the country to take a cue from Governor Ahmed Aliyu, who always give his deputy, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir, free hand to pilot the affairs of the state whenever he is out of the state.
Alhaji Abubakar stated this while responding to the deputy governor’s remarks during the Sallah homage, stating that leadership should not be a one-man affair.
The Sultan added that such gesture has portrayed Governor Aliyu as a leader who believes in the ability of other people to deliver particularly in his absence.
He further advised the state government not to hesitate from informing the people about critical issues that affect them in order to avoid unnecessary rumours.
While acknowledging the effort of the state and federal governments in tackling insecurity, the Sultan called for more efforts to rid the nation of threats to the people’s safety.
“This was due to the fact that the issue of insecurity has continue to be retarding the socio-economic development of the people,” the monarch stated.
Earlier, the deputy governor thanked the Sultan for his support and guidance to the state government at all times.
Alhaji Gobir stressed that the challenge of insecurity has been a major concern to Governor Aliyu, which informed his support of any initiative forwarded to him for the purpose of improving security situation in the state.
He added that since the coming of the current administration, government operations has never been halted due to the absence of the Governor.
According to him, this may not be unconnected with the free hand always given to him by the Governor to run the affairs of the state in his absence.
