Super Eagles’ Zaidu Sanusi To Return For Porto After 10-Month Absence

FC Porto’s defender, Zaidu Sanusi, is on the verge of making his long-awaited return to competitive action for the Portuguese club after enduring a challenging 10-month period on the sidelines due to injury.

Zaidu Sanusi, 27, has been included in Porto’s 26-man squad for an important UEFA Europa League matchup against the Belgian Pro League team, Anderlecht, set to take place tonight.

This marks a significant milestone for Sanusi, whose last appearance in a competitive match for the Dragons occurred back in February when he played against CF Estrela.

Sanusi’s lengthy absence was the result of a serious cruciate ligament injury he sustained shortly after returning from international duty. The injury sidelined him for nearly a year, forcing him to focus on rehabilitation and recovery.

To regain match fitness and confidence, he made a couple of appearances for Porto’s B team last month, which played a pivotal role in his recovery process.

As Porto approaches this crucial fixture, the team finds itself in a challenging position in the Europa League, having collected only four points from their first four matches.

Currently, the Dragons sit in a disappointing 22nd place in the overall standings. The return of Sanusi is seen as a potential boost for the squad as they look to turn around their fortunes in the tournament.
