Sources have revealed that Uju-Ken Ohanenye, the recently sacked Minister of Women Affairs, was removed from her position due to what the presidency deemed as ‘constant drama’ which was becoming an embarrassment to the administration.
Ohanenye, known for her outspoken nature, allegedly created significant discord within the ministry through her aggressive restructuring efforts.
Insiders who spoke with Punch on the development detailed that one of the significant issues that tarnished Ohanenye’s standing was her contentious threat to take legal action against the United Nations.
She accused the international body of mismanaging and failing to remit funds intended for Nigeria, a claim that caused a stir in diplomatic circles.
Further exacerbating her fraught tenure, Ohanenye reportedly caused disruptions at two major events in Abuja.
According to sources, she insisted that the organizers should have obtained clearances from her ministry before proceeding with the events, leading to public scenes that drew widespread criticism.
“The woman is a controversial person. She stepped on toes with her conduct and the President couldn’t curtail her excesses any longer. She is too dramatic as a minister. We knew she couldn’t go far”, said a source at the APC secretariat.
