In what appeared to be a fitting emphasis of the title of her latest movie titled, ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’, celebs and admirers alike turned out en-masse for actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele’s premiere on Sunday, December 8, 2024, proving that indeed, “everybody loves the Jenifa brand” .

Held at the Filmhouse Cinema IMAX in Lekki, Lagos, the venue was agog with gaiety as entertainers, including major cast of the movie, appeared dressed to the nines.

The decor of the venue featured an adaptation of some of the sets in the movie, including the title character, Jenifa’s salon.

Before the movie was screened to the selected audience, guests strutted the red carpet, with some of them networking and engaging in camaraderie.

There were also lots to eat and drink, as different brands and food/snacks/drinks vendors set up stands at different sites in the venue.

The kiss that stole the show

Undoubtedly the highlight of the premiere was when Funke (Jenifa) shared a passionate kiss with her co-star and love interest in the movie, Falz (Segun).

Though Segun was a recurrent love interest in the TV series, ‘Jenifa’s Diary’, their love story did not mature until ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’. Full of suspense and intrigue, the movie took the audience at the premiere on a roller coaster of emotions and was capped with the kiss between the duo, which saw the audience erupt in cheers, whistles and another gesture of amazement.

This was even as many of the guests commended the duo for the chemistry between them, which made the kiss look like a real expression of passion and intimacy and not the make-believe that it was.

‘Rolls Royce geng’

Another high point of the event was when the cast of the movie made a spectacular entrance into the venue with a motorcade of gleaming Rolly Royce vehicles, which got the crowd excited.

Guests at the event include Omowunmi Dada, D’banj, Stan Nze, Lolo, Juliana Olayode, Destiny Etiko, Nancy Isime, Kate Henshaw, Lateef Adedimeji and his wife, Mo’Bimpe; Iyabo Ojo, Etinosa Idemudia, Bukky Wright, Hilda Baci, Lilian Afegbai, Paschaline Alex, Liquorose, Allysn, Ini-Dima Okojie, Taaoma, among others.
